About Us
Jenna Ogilvie has spent her professional career helping engineers, architects, scientists, and clincians communicate clearly. She believes in the power of straightforward language and simple arguments, and has seen how science and medicine, spoken about in plain language, can change the world.
Jenna spent the first half of her career working as a Proposal Specialist for Turner Construction Company and Tompkins Builders, focusing on federal construction and procurement. She spent the last 10 years at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the National Academy of Medicine, first focusing on bioethics, responsible conduct of research, and international biosecurity, and then serving as the Managing Editor for NAM Perspectives and publications manager for the NAM. Jenna holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland and an MFA in Creative Writing from the American University, where her thesis, Juggernaut, received the Myra Sklarew Award for a thesis with exceptional originality.
